Pat Burkett Angel's brother, Mike, is in Good Samaritan Hospital in WPB not doing well. He has metastatic melanoma. He has had chemo and a couple of surgeries but things aren't going real well for him right now. Please keep Mike & Pat and their family in your prayers.

Mike Burkett's memorial service will be on Mon.March 29th at 6:00pm at St.John's Episcopal Church in Belle Glade.If anyone has pictures or great stories please come join the family in Celebrating Mike's Life!

Paul & I attended the Memorial Service for Mike Burkett last night in Belle Glade. It was very nice and full of memories for a very fun guy that was always so full of life and dance. He will be missed. Keep Pat & her family in your thoughts....she really needs our support right now.

Just got the message about JD, I could not read the one from the day before. Jd was my step uncle, and it was always fun to say Wanda was my Aunt and my teacher. I will keep Wanda and the family in my prayers.

So Pam,
When are we gathering again? If any of you reading this live near the Cracker Barrels in Lake City, Florida, Kathryn, Pam and I tend to make this a choice spot to meet up every few months or so.. Takes us all about an hour + to get there..
Hate to read about Julian..thanks for keeping us posted Brenda.

Brenda,
Somewhat late, but great job again in putting together our reunion. This is not an easy undertaken. I enjoyed my visit with Maria, Joanne, Pam and Kathryn. I had not seen Pam, Maria and Kathryin since our graduation in 1968. WOW. Again, a HOOAH job!

Brenda, wanting to know if you have Sandy and George Richardson's address. I have a photo that I took of them in 2004 reunion week end and wanted to mail it to them. It really is a good photo of the two and just thought they would like to have it. If you do not want to give me the address than maybe you could mail it to them for me. Brenda, I keep seeing notes @ the reunion, It seems like only yesterday that we were all together, remembering great times from BG and what has been going on with everyone since. I still wish we could have had more time to visit with everyone, so much has transpired over the years. I also wish more classmates could have made it. Good morning everyone...glad somebody still writes on this blog...I was beginning to think it had all but dried up due to facebook!! I must admit...I'm a facebook fanatic myself. If you haven't joined you should. It is a wonderful way to see what's going on daily with your classmates and family. You can keep anyone out that you don't want to read about and it's been a great way to find other classmates. Alan, glad you enjoyed the slideshow. This website just makes things easier & easier. It was so fun to see it all put together once I finished the music. It was like being there all over again. A lot of people would like to have another reunion sooner and that's fine with me but on a less informal scale. I would like to put together a long weekend with no plans....just make your reservations and come together to visit and stay as long as you would like. Eat together, visit, but no agenda. Maybe in the cooler months. When is that? In Florida that was for about 5 months last year! Mike glad you're still reminiscing....once you come to a reunion they're unforgettable huh?? Just what I hoped for! Diana, I think I have George & Sandy's address...I'll look. If not, George has signed on this website so you could at least send him a message by clicking on "classmate profiles" and click on his name & you can send him an e-mail. Paul & I just returned from Hutchinson Island for the month of July along with my oldest daughter Amy & her family along with a lot of other Glades families. Lots of sun, sand, and fun. The rest of my family visited over the month. Now it's back to work tomorrow and the real world! I have sent Julio...the photographer...yet another e-mail about the dvd of pictures that some of you purchased and are STILL waiting on. All I can say ..is I'm Sorry....I was trying to give a friend a chance to make some money in hard times. He swears he has them finally ready to send out....we'll wait & see. Later, Brenda

DAVIS, HARRY LAUDER Harry Lauder Davis, 81, of Gainesville, Florida passed away suddenly, but peacefully at his home, Sunday, August 1, 2010. Harry was born on Dec. 3, 1928 in Temple, Texas while his father, Montie A. Davis, was at Seminary studying to become a Baptist preacher. Most of his childhood was spent in Mississippi. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Elkin of Moss Point, MS. He graduated from the University of Mississippi where he was Coach John Vaught's first football recruit. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Harry was a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and educator. He became the football coach of his former high school, Moss Point High School. In 1960 he moved to Belle Glade where he was a teacher. He coached for many years with the Belle Glade High School Rams. He continued his education, receiving his Masters Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was the principal of South Bay Elementary and of Belle Glade Elementary. For twenty-five years he was an educator in the Glades area of Palm Beach County. Upon retirement, Harry and Shirley moved to Gainesville in 1991. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Montie and Bertha Davis of Pascagoula, brothers John, and Montie Davis, Jr. Harry is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Shirley Elkin Davis, by daughter Amanda Foster of Gainesville and her husband Eddie, daughter Downing Newman of Orlando and her husband Mark, Jorge Rodriguez of Tampa and Tony Rodriguez of Oklahoma City, sisters Shirley Speights of Pascagoula, and Katherine Hood from MS, grandchildren Chad Foster, Joel Foster, and Sean Foster all of Gainesville, Leslie O'Dell, Michele Moreman and Stephen Newman all of Orlando and a great granddaughter, Kaelin O'Dell. Funeral Services will be at First Baptist Church 14105 NW 39th Avenue Gainesville, FL at 1:00 PM on Friday August 6, 2010, with a viewing for one hour prior. Margaret, thanks for posting this obituary for Coach Davis. We will miss him. I hope some of our classmates can make it to the funeral. Paul would like to go but this is my first week at work after a month so there's no way I can take off on Friday. If anyone has an idea about a casual place to have a long weekend getaway please post & I will check it out...I've considered River Ranch in Lake Wales...there have been several BGHS reunions there...actually there's one next weekend...I hear it's a great place but way too hot in the summer months.

Good Morning! Lamar and I were deeply saddened to hear about Coach Davis, he was a wonderful person. Lamar got to know him first in South Bay at the elementary school and then again at good ole BGHS. We all have great memories of him.
I was checking out the BGHS website and saw a cute story about Mrs. Lovell at the local flower shop here in town. She went in the shop with a gardenia she had gotten out of her yard, a small piece of material left from her wedding dress and a small clipping of her head piece she wore the day they got married. She asked the florist to make her a corsage out of everything to wear out to supper tonight for her and Sam's 60th wedding anniversary this weekend. What great people!! Best wish's and many more anniversaries to come!!

I just received a call from Renee Vaught Bishop requesting prayers for Donna Gail Chaney Schoenfeld (class of '68) who is in Hospice in Okeechobee suffering from liver failure. She attended our last 2 reunions and was doing well last August but apparently has suffered from setbacks since then.

Donna Gail Chaney Schoenfeld, class of '68, passed away today from complications due to liver failure and congestive heart failure...she was predeceased by her husband, Bobby Schoenfeld. They have one son, Heath and twin grandsons. She also leaves behind her loving companion of 6 yrs., Vince Sims. This is so sad that we've lost another member of our Rams family. She was at our last 2 reunions and really looked good last August. She will be missed. Please keep Vince and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
